This year, 175 Breakthrough Awards were presented during the Breakthrough Awards & National Rural Honor Roll Luncheon held on Wednesday, November 6, 2024. The luncheon celebrated the outstanding achievements and innovative efforts within the healthcare industry, recognizing organizations that have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to driving excellence in patient care.

EBCH was awarded 20 Breakthrough Awards based on its impressive HCAHPS (Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems) scores. The HCAHPS scores, which measure patient experience in areas such as communication, responsiveness, and environment, are a direct reflection of the hospital’s dedication to exceptional service.

In addition to the Breakthrough Awards, EBCH is incredibly honored to receive Five-Star Recognition through the National Rural Rating System (NRRS), an esteemed ranking system for rural hospitals. The hospital’s inclusion on the Honor Roll for NRRS is a testament to its commitment to operational excellence, clinical quality, and patient-centered care, all while addressing the unique challenges of providing healthcare in rural settings.
Pinnacle and Summit Awards
In 2024, the HCSEC Summit Awards committee received 311 nominations from 30 different healthcare organizations spanning 14 states. One hundred fifteen of the nominees were chosen as Pinnacle Achievers (the best of the best), and 31 of those were presented the prestigious Summit Award at the Night of Excellence held on Wednesday, November 6, 2024.
The Summit Award is the highest award of excellence presented at the HealthCare Service Excellence Conference. It is awarded to qualified, innovative, and progressive individuals, teams, and healthcare facilities who have made outstanding progress towards improving the patient experience and staff engagement. Individuals, teams, or organizations must be nominated to be eligible for a Summit Award.

Summit Award Recognition for Café Renovation – DO-IT Project
Finally, EBCH has received Summit Award Recognition for its innovative Café Renovation project under the DO-IT (Departmentally Organized Improvement Tactic) initiative. This project, which transformed the campus café into a welcoming space, is part of the organization’s broader commitment to improving the hospital environment and enhancing the experience of employees and patients alike.
