Athletic Training

Athletic Training

Ely-Bloomenson Community Hospital is partnering with Orthopaedic Associates to bring Athletic Training Services to our community. Certified Athletic Trainer Louie Gerzin, ATC is now offering these services at Ely Memorial High School and MN North – Vermilion Campus to meet with athletes and other individuals in need of his care.

Why is Athletic Training important?

For EBCH, the health and safety of local student athletes is a top priority. Having Louie available to attend home sporting events and provide immediate care in the wake of an injury—including administering concussion protocol—ensures they have the best chance for successful recovery and safe return to play. In addition, proactive care to help prepare for play, such as preseason screenings, and care for existing injuries or conditions will help these students get out on the field, court, diamond or wherever they compete – and help keep them in the game.

What can Athletic Training help with?

Athletic Training can help with a wide range of injuries and conditions for both athletes and non-athletes alike.

  • Overuse injuries
  • Sprains and strains
  • Back pain
  • Joint pain or swelling
  • Muscle pain or swelling
  • Decreased range of motion
  • Injury rehab

Louie has Athletic Training hours at Ely Memorial High School and at MN North - Vermilion Campus throughout the week depending on the number of sporting events at each. To learn more about Athletic Training Services at EBCH, contact the Rehab Department at 218-365-8755.
