2019 Board of Directors
Members of the Board of Directors serve a term of three years and are elected at the annual member meeting held the first Monday in December. The current Board of Directors members are:
Susan Lynn Edgington – President
Graduating from the University Wisconsin/Madison with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture with a History Minor, Sue has been an international farm inspector, owned and operated a small cheese factory and in 2005 moved to Ely to begin a new life as the owner of the Adventure Inn. Sue is proud to call Ely her family’s home.
Blaine “Butch” Diesslin – Vice-President
A retired Vermilion Community College Professor of Physics, Physical Science and Computer Science, Butch graduated from Mankato State with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Physics, and continued with a Master of Science in Teaching Physics from UW-Superior. Graduate courses in Computer Science were also attained at Bemidji State University. An active volunteer in the Ely community, Butch is keenly interested in the well-being of others.
Kelly Klun – Secretary
Kelly is the managing Attorney at the Klun Law Firm. A graduate of the College of St. Scholastica, Hamline School of Law and currently enrolled in the U of M, Carlson School of Management, Kelly brings our hospital a wide range of relevant experience. She believes Ely Bloomenson’s fiscal health and long term viability is critical to the future of our community hospital.
Terry Soderberg – Treasurer
Terry, a graduate of the University of Minnesota, Duluth, recently retired after 26 years of service with St. Louis County as the Deputy Director of Environmental Services. Terry’s volunteer community services include Supervisor for Morse Township. His expertise will lend well to his duties as a Director for our local Community hospital.
Jim Richards – Director
Jim, a native of Ely, graduated from the University of Wisconsin Superior and works for Cliffs Natural Resources. The Richards also own the local eatery, Rockwood Bar and Grill. “I am truly honored and excited for the opportunity to contribute to the success and sustainability of the EBCH. Ely is a wonderful community which I am proud to call home.”
Geoff Galaski – Director
Geoff is a graduate of Vermilion Community College and currently serves as Executive Director of the Ely Area Ambulance Service. “I have worked in Ely since August 2012 and enjoy the area and community. I have a nine-year-old son who enjoys what Ely has to offer, including outdoor activities and ATV rides. I look forward to making Ely my permanent residence and to be able to improve the great quality healthcare service we have!”
Devon Luthens – Director
Devon was born and raised in Ely and attended Lake Superior College and St. Scholastica in Duluth and South University in Georgia to achieve her MS in Nursing. She is an instructor for the Licensed Practical Nursing Program at Mesabi Range College. She is married to her husband Brady and has a daughter, Lucy. She enjoys teaching Sunday School for toddlers and preschoolers at Ely United Methodist church and is honored to serve the community through the EBCH Foundation.
